Travelling Through Films – PRETEENS
Exploring the lives of people coming from different cultures through films. By watching scenes from fiction and documentary movies, we shall travel to different parts of South-West Asia and the rest of the world, and learn how life is outside of Australia. During our travels, we will learn about traditions, religions, Music, cuisine, and even learn how to say words in the language of the place we are visiting.
Activities: -Interactive discussion around the country we are about to explore to see what the participants know about it, then give an introduction about its culture and its people.
-Screening of a scene from a movie (5 to 10 minutes).
-Open conversations and quiz about what we watched and provide more information about cultures and encourage cohesion. ( Age 9 – 12 )
About the artist:
Camille is a Lebanese musician and film-maker who draws heavily from the traditions of classical Middle Eastern music. The instruments he plays include the Qanun, the Nay, the Buzuq and the synthesizer. He cofounded “Tarabeat” in 2016, which is a music collective combining Arabic traditional music with electronic instruments. Tarabeat managed to perform at various festivals in the middle east, Europe and Australia. Having studied sound engineering and film-making in Beirut, Lebanon, Camille directed a few social documentaries including “Transit” in 2017.
