Embodied Emotions for TEENS ( Spanish & English )
( Age 13 – Up ) Explore how actors train in emotions. This is a body base explorative workshop that will guide you to find the connection between your breath, energy in your body, your posture, the quality of your movement and the changes in your sound and voice; that can be linked to a specific set of different emotions.
Discover the difference between mood, emotions and feelings in your body, by exploring the use of Tension/Strength/Relaxation-Breath-Sound-Postural Organization-Facial Expression-Space Disposition.
Find safe ways to enter an exit emotion, to be able to play different roles in performing arts. Play with a piece of text of your preference, to explore how that can be linked to the actor’s role. Open to beginners and those with different levels of experience in the field. The session will check with participants about their previous experiences and current energy levels. There will be an agreement on how to proceed as a group during the session, proving a safety net and options for everybody, promoting self-care during the practice. Gentle activation. Body-mapping of the areas of your body that support your breath and sound. Body and Voice warm up. Breath work to release emotional tension. Exploration of a set of emotions. Integration of breath, voice and movement with text. Breath work to release physical tension. Sharing of experience and closing circle.
About the artist:
Jose is an interdisciplinary performing Artist, Facilitator, Somatic and Transpersonal Psychotherapist, Yogi, Physical Therapist and Creator. He started his journey in his native Chile, where he graduated as Psychologist, Psychotherapist and Actor. During that time, he added into his blend specialised courses in Meditation, Gestalt, Transpersonal Psychotherapy, Breath work, Psychodrama and Projective testing. Jose also has creative workshops in Contemporary Dance, Contact Improvisation, Emotional Expression, Singing and Spoken voice. His integrative practice continues to expand adding formal training in Remedial Massage Therapy, Yoga, and Myotherapy; together with exploring workshops related to Alexander Technique, TaKeTiNa, Somatic Therapy, Trauma Awareness and Animal Studies. He has performed in Theatre and Contemporary Dance internationally, in professional and community scenarios. Jose has also facilitated creative, educational and therapeutic sessions. These sessions engage with different age groups; including preps, primary, secondary, Tertiary and elderly education.
Jose has a strong connection with communities that identify as Multicultural, Linguistically Diverse, People of Colour and LGBTQIA+. He also worked in group settings with patients, caregivers and family members of people with Dementia, PTSD, Chronic Mental and Physical Health conditions, as well as those who had experienced Displacement. Jose embraces with love, respect and care every moment and activity he’s involved in. He is committed to bringing about a sense of joy, uniqueness, and wellbeing to those around him.
