Storytelling can dance for KIDS ( Spanish & English )
( Age 5 – 8 ) Explore the use of your body as a way to share stories. A playful way to connect with dance, gestures, body composition, facial expression and qualities of movement.
Incorporating exploration of animal movements and actions, by using images from the animal kingdom, that will help participants creating a story with their bodies.
We will generate composition in the space, composition within the body, adding gestures and facial expression, exploring different rhythm and pulses to provide dynamics and articulate the story.
Gentle physical warmup. Exploration of facial expression, hand gestures, body part compositions and body in space composition. Use of images to copy animal compositions. Exploration of connection between images, using ideas of narrative by deciding the sequencing of images and adding different qualities in the transitions between images.
About the artist:
Jose is an interdisciplinary performing Artist, Facilitator, Somatic and Transpersonal Psychotherapist, Yogi, Physical Therapist and Creator. Started his journey in his native Chile, where graduated as Psychologist, Psychotherapist and Actor. During that time, he added into his blend specialised courses in Meditation, Gestalt, Transpersonal Psychotherapy, Breath work, Psychodrama, Projective test, as well as creative workshops in Contemporary Dance, Contact Improvisation, Emotional Expression, Singing and Spoken voice. Spoken in Australia, his integrative practice continuous to expand adding formal training in Remedial Massage Therapy, Yoga, and Myotherapy; together with exploring workshops related to Alexander Technique, TaKeTiNa, Somatic Therapy, Trauma Awareness and Animal Studies. He performed in Theatre and Contemporary Dance internationally, in professional and community scenarios. He has also facilitated creative, educational and therapeutic sessions, engaging with different age groups, including preps, primary, secondary, Tertiary and elderly education.
Has a strong connection with communities that identifies as Multicultural, Linguistically Diverse, People of Colour and LGBTQIA+. He also worked in group settings with patients, caregivers and family members of people with Dementia, PTSD, Chronic Mental and Physical Health conditions, as well as those who had experienced Displacement, become Refugees or Migrants. Embrace with love, respect and care every moment and activity that he’s involved in, bringing about a sense of joy, uniqueness, and wellbeing to those around him.
