Storytelling can dance for TEENS ( Spanish & English )
( Age 13 – 17 ) Explore the use of your body as a way to share stories. A creative, mindful way to connect with contemporary dance and performing art practices, exploring gestures, body composition, facial expression, and different qualities of movement.
Designed to provide possibilities for different bodies and levels of experience. This workshop will explore the use of realistic and abstract human expressions, together with different emotional contents from the selected images.
The images will help participants create a story with their bodies.
In this experience participants will explore creative ways of using composition in the space, composition within the body, gestures and facial expression. This includes different ways to articulate that story through the use of pulses, pauses, rhythm and melodies, as well as dramatic structures for narratives within the body.
The session will have exploration of facial expression, hand gestures, body part compositions and body in space composition. There is use of human images from photography, paints and human sculpture compositions. Exploration of connection between images, using ideas of drama and other narrative structures to organise the
sequence of images to tell a story, adding emotional contents through the quality of movement used for the transitions between images.
